27JunChange.

At the end of this billing cycle, my Typepad account will be deleted. I really liked the flexibility available for designs and layouts, but I have to face the cold hard truth. The truth is, I work in finance every day, and I will never sleep peacefully knowing that each year I am spending money on a service that could be done for free. It’s the nature of the tightwad beast. Even more-so after I read this article about Warren Buffet. If he can throw his fortune at the less fortunate, gosh darn it, so can I.

Short explanation: I am too cheap to pay $8.95 per month.

Now that I eliminated one more liability each month from my balance sheet, I think I can finally start saving for that new car I’ve been drooling over. At this rate ($8.95/mo) I’ll have enough saved up to buy it in about 234 years, provided the price doesn’t inflate beyond $25 grand.

For the convenience, and (I’m certain) to the relief, of both of my readers, I successfully imported all of my posts from Typepad to this new blog account; something I wasn’t able to accomplish with Blogger. So, dive headfirst into the archives for hours of mindless enjoyment. Search the categories for days of fun, and send me a letter when you’re ready for more. Wordpress is my new canvas.

17JunSteamboat Classic.

Music was blaring, crowds were cheering, my family was standing on the sidelines… the Steamboat Classic was this morning…up at 5, downtown by about 6, on the road promptly at 7 …somewhere around 3,000 runners for 4 miles and a 15k and just over 65% humidity …awesome.
I had two goals: beat Ray LaHood, and beat the Peoria fire fighters. Mr. LaHood is our congressman. I don’t have anything against him, but he’s quite a bit older than I am, so it’s a young-guy-beats-the-ol’-guy pride thing. The firemen from Peoria run in their full fire garb, and obviously no one wants to say they got beaten by a bunch of guys that look like they are on the way to a fire.

mission accomplished.

12Junsick day.

It started hitting me last week abut this time. I think all of the 5:00a wake-up’s to go running combined with the preceding late nights are starting to take a toll on my body. So far I’ve gone through a box and a half of Kleenex and I just ran out of Sudaphed, but I think I’m starting to feel a little better. I stayed home from the office today, but I had even mentally planned out my day with things I wanted to accomplish…

  • Sleep.
  • Get caught up on podcasts.
  • Sleep.
  • Read a book.
  • Sleep.
  • Clean up around the house.
  • Sleep.

Slight change of plans…now it looks like I’m going to be spending the afternoon on my hands and knees in the backyard, attempting to repair the phone box (not just a line this time… the whole box!) that my wonderfully obedient and mindful yellow lab chewed up and ruined. (if you know anyone that’s looking for a new dog…) ah, the joys of being a pet owner. But I’ve made amends with Sierra since this morning’s fiasco and we are speaking again, although there’s still some tension around the house.

10JunMulti-site Revolution.

Twelve Oaks is now a multi-site church! …at least online we are!

Check out http://twelveoakschurch.wordpress.com to see what’s happening around the Oaks. Hopefully (if everything goes according to plan), you will see some notes from our pastors and hear about events before they happen. Good stuff. More goodness to come as we get the hang of this whole "blogging church" thing.
