Steamboat Classic.
Music was blaring, crowds were cheering, my family was standing on the sidelines… the Steamboat Classic was this morning…up at 5, downtown by about 6, on the road promptly at 7 …somewhere around 3,000 runners for 4 miles and a 15k and just over 65% humidity …awesome.
I had two goals: beat Ray LaHood, and beat the Peoria fire fighters. Mr. LaHood is our congressman. I don’t have anything against him, but he’s quite a bit older than I am, so it’s a young-guy-beats-the-ol’-guy pride thing. The firemen from Peoria run in their full fire garb, and obviously no one wants to say they got beaten by a bunch of guys that look like they are on the way to a fire.
mission accomplished.
