the New Digs.
So, in case you didn’t catch the news yesterday… it’s official:
Rachel and I are changing churches.
The new place, if you didn’t see the great big logo just an inch north of this paragraph, is CrossPoint Church. For the locals readers familiar with the greater Peoria area, it’s located in East Peoria on Pleasant Hill Rd., right next to the old Pleasant Hill middle school. Here’s a map…
I’ve already had the opportunity to lead worship a couple of times as a guest, and now I can’t wait to jump in and work even more closely with Robert (who doesn’t have a blog yet, but I’ll convert him).
So who are these people from across the river?
an excerpt from the church website says…
CrossPoint Church is a warm and caring group of believers who are committed to helping people find and follow Jesus Christ.
It reminds of me of something I read recently. Bill Hybels, the senior pastor of Willow Creek in Chicago, made a ‘confession‘ a few months ago about Willow Creek’s apparent lack of effectiveness in meeting the needs of believers after the point of salvation. Up until that point, they had been pouring loads of money into programs that, as it turns out, didn’t help people become ’self-feeders’… they were still immature believers.
That’s a major problem at several churches across the country, and it’s a large part of what excites me so much about CrossPoint. Through their “CrossPoint University” classes, they are pushing people to to do more than just sit and digest a sermon.
Finding and following. Salvation and spiritual growth.
It’s a beautiful thing.
And it’s an innovative way to engage people during Sunday school classes, and keeps people focused. You can even obtain a Biblical Studies Certificate when you complete a certain number of classes!
I could go on and on, but suffice to say… God is good, and we’re excited about it.
Check out a sermon, or stop by for worship to see for yourself.

WOW!!! I am shocked, to say the least! But definately excited for you guys - I know first hand that switching churches is scary and really pushes you out of your comfort zone, but I know it will be worth it for you guys and for Ethan! Plus, it’s exciting to think about the paths that God will take you guys down because you were obedient to what He wanted for you guys. AWESOME, AWESOME, AWESOME!!!
Congrats guys. Carrie and I are proud of that your stepping out and following God. We will continue to pray the three of you.
